You truly can't beat the views from the terrace and location of this bright, tasteful apartment.  On 2 levels, it accommodates up to 4 guests. The nearby Piazza Santa Croce is a splendid location for sightseeing, dining and appreciating the daily life of Florence.

There are 4 apartments here that, altogether, can accommodate 20 with the use of sofa beds.

Location

We named this apartment and its neighbors after great Italian scientists who are celebrated with monuments in the church of Santa Croce next door. The church, officially a basilica, is called the Pantheon (temple to the gods) of Italy commemorating many Italian creative geniuses from all disciplines with their graves and/or monuments. Navigating the monuments is just one of many ways to enjoy the beauties of Santa Croce.

Guglielmo Marconi invented radio for which he was awarded the 1909 Nobel Prize in Physics. As an entrepreneur he founded the Marconi Company in the UK in 1897, creating a commercial success. It is hard to think today that until the radio about 120 years ago, all distant communications had to be via physical wire or mail.

Piazza Santa Croce not only hosts the daily life of Florentines, but also entertainment from buskers and larger events such as exhibits, concerts and the annual Calcio Storico, celebrated, amazing historical-style soccer matches. The famous sites of Florence are all walking distance. Super dining and gelato all nearby.

Exterior

A beautiful contrast to the wonderful renaissance architecture of Florence and the gothic style of the nearby basilica, the palazzo here is of Liberty style (called Art Nouveau in France) and dates from about 1900.

Interior

The bright open-plan living room works well in this quality apartment. Large windows illuminate the space that includes a living room area with sofa bed and 2 arm chairs. Across the room is a handsome dining table for 4. The kitchen is between these two areas, open with a preparation island with a 2 burner induction stovetop, sink and refrigerator under. A microwave, tea and coffee equipment are on nearby side tables. On the same level is a full bath so this can work well for 3 or 4 guests.

10 steps up to the loft, you find the bedroom. There is a large closet, full bath and the entrance to the little terrace with wonderful views.

Carrara marble in the bathrooms is beautiful. We truly appreciate the features of this property and location.

The companion apartments are Da Vinci, Fermi and Barsanti.

Lovely For Our Family

by Lindsay

This apartment (Fermi) was lovely for our family of four. Plenty of space to relax and spread out. The kitchen was limited but more than enough for our needs. The option to rent additional apartments next door would be ideal for a large group or family. We also enjoyed the laundry amenity. The bathrooms were beautiful and spacious. We would definitely stay again - and hope to!

Wonderful Pied a Terre

by Troy

This apartment (Barsanti) is now a favorite for Florence. There is a small terrace with views, good air-conditioning, well-equipped kitchen and a perfect location. The management is very helpful. I would go back in an instant.

Very fine apartment. Excellent service. Great location. Don't hesitate. [Review for Da Vinci in the same building and with the same management.]

Local Sights

Piazza Santa Croce (1 min walk)
Grand piazza of Florence, largest in the center. Fine historic palaces and reigned over by the brooding statue of Dante Alighieri. The cathedral is the temple to the "gods" of Italy including Michelangelo, Rossini, Machiavelli, Galileo and more. Location of events including Calcio Storico "the most brutal sport".
Piazza della Signoria (7 min walk)
Center of power of Florence since ancient times with the David statue by the Palazzo Vecchio, the ancient seat of government, and the loggia of dramatic statues each of which has a story about politics and power. Imagine the Bonfires of the Vanities here and the triumphal return of the Medici.
Uffizi Gallery (7 mins walk)
One of the greatest museums in the world. The defining collection of Renaissance art. A tour is recommended.
Duomo (8 mins walk)
Florence's famous and glorious cathedral, Santa Maria del Fiore, beautiful to gaze at since the 1300s. Don't miss and, if you can, read about -- then visit the amazing dome by Brunelleschi erected without scaffolding!
Ponte Vecchio (12 mins walk)
Awesome ancient bridge over Florence's Arno river that has survived 800 years. Famous for the shops of goldsmiths along its length.
